Introduction
Mangaplay Studio is developed by Absolutely Skint (Pistol Taeja).
Mangaplay Studio is a storyboard and screenplay creator that comes in four forms: a website at mangaplay.studio, a Chrome extension for use with files in Google Drive™, a desktop app for Windows and macOS, and a mobile app for Android and iOS. All four share the same purpose and the same privacy approach.
We do not collect, transmit, or store your creative work. The website and Chrome extension run in your browser. The desktop and mobile apps run on your device.
When you use the Chrome extension, the desktop app, or the mobile app to publish to Google Docs™, the app works only on the file you pick or the file it creates on your behalf. It transforms the file on your device and writes the result back to that same file. Nothing passes through our servers. We have no cloud servers hosting your data.
This policy covers all four products. Jump to the section that applies to you:
Mangaplay Studio Website
The Mangaplay Studio website runs entirely in your browser. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server-side storage of your work.
Information We Collect
Automatically collected via Google Analytics:
- IP address
- Browser type
- Device information
- Pages visited
- Referral URL
We do NOT collect:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Payment information
- File contents
- Scripts or any user-created content
How We Use Information
We use the data collected by analytics to understand site traffic and usage patterns, and to improve the application.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics. It places cookies on your device to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how visitors interact with Mangaplay Studio.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
In addition to the client-side Google Analytics tag, the web app at /app sends a single anonymous engagement event per session to our analytics endpoint at api.absolutelyskint.com, which forwards it to Google Analytics using the Measurement Protocol. This event contains no personal information — only your app version, a randomly generated client ID stored in localStorage, and the event name. No file content, account details, or browsing history is included.
Third-Party Services
Google Analytics is the only third-party service we use. We do not use any ad networks, payment processors, or other third-party tracking services.
Local Storage on Your Device
All user scripts, settings, and application state are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. There is no server-side storage. See our Local Data Policy for the full list of keys and what each one holds.
Your Choices
- Opt out of Google Analytics using the Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Clear your browser data at any time to remove all locally stored information, including scripts, preferences, and application state. You can also use Settings → Reset inside the app.
Mangaplay Studio for Google Docs™ (Chrome Extension)
Mangaplay Studio for Google Docs™ is a Chrome extension that adds a side panel for working on a single file you choose. It reads that file, transforms it in your browser, and writes the result back to the same file. Nothing passes through our servers. We have no cloud servers hosting your data.
Permissions We Request (OAuth)
When you sign in, Google asks you to approve two permissions. We request only these two. We do not request any other Google permission.
userinfo.profile. Lets the extension show your name and profile picture in the account menu so you can confirm which Google account you are signed in as. Your name and picture stay in the extension on your device. We do not send them anywhere.drive.file. Lets the extension open the one file you pick using the Google file picker, and lets the extension write back to that same file. This permission does not let the extension see, list, or open any other file in your Google Drive.
What We Access
The extension only accesses the file you pick in the Google file picker. It cannot browse, search, or list the rest of your Google Drive. If you want the extension to work on a different file, you pick that file yourself.
What We Do With It
All work happens in your browser. The extension reads the file you picked, builds the storyboard or screenplay view, and writes your edits back to that same file using the Google Drive API. No copy of your file is sent to us or to any third party.
What We Store
On our servers: nothing. We have no cloud servers hosting your data.
On your device, inside the extension:
- A short-lived Google sign-in token, your name, and your profile picture. Stored in
chrome.storage.session. Cleared when you close the browser or sign out. - Your settings, such as language, theme, and view mode. Stored in
chrome.storage.local. Stays until you uninstall the extension or pick Settings → Reset. - The file's content is never saved by the extension. The extension reads it fresh from Google each time you open it.
See our Local Data Policy for the full list of items stored on your device.
How Long We Keep Data
- Sign-in token: until the browser closes, or until you sign out. We do not keep it anywhere else.
- Name and profile picture: kept in the extension on your device only, alongside the sign-in token. Cleared when the token is cleared.
- Settings: kept on your device until you uninstall the extension or pick Settings → Reset.
- Your file's content: not kept by us at any point. It stays in your Google Drive, where you control it.
How We Protect Your Data
All calls between the extension and Google use HTTPS. Your sign-in token is held in chrome.storage.session, which Chrome clears when the browser closes. The extension cannot send your file's content to anyone other than Google, because there is no cloud server of ours to send it to.
Image Uploads
When you add an image to your file, the extension may need to upload that image to your Google Drive so Google can place it inside the file. The upload uses the same drive.file permission. The extension marks the upload as temporary and removes it once the file has been updated. If a run is interrupted, the leftover upload can be cleaned up later.
What We Share With Others
Nothing. The extension has no third-party services, no analytics, and no telemetry of any kind.
No AI Training
Your file's content is never used to train AI or machine-learning models. Not ours, not anyone else's. The extension does layout work only. No AI model is involved.
Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use
Mangaplay Studio for Google Docs™'s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In plain language, this means:
- We do not use Google user data to show ads.
- We do not sell or transfer Google user data to anyone else, except where it is needed to provide the extension's features to you, where the law requires it, or as part of a merger or acquisition with proper notice to you.
- We do not let people read your Google data, except where you ask us to, where it is needed for security, where the law requires it, or where the data has been combined and made anonymous.
- We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train general AI or machine-learning models.
How to Remove Access
You can remove the extension's access to your Google account at any time. Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, pick Mangaplay Studio, and choose Remove access. You can also uninstall the extension from chrome://extensions.
Mangaplay Studio Desktop App (Windows and macOS)
The Mangaplay Studio desktop app is a native application for Windows and macOS. Your projects, drawings, and settings live in files on your own computer. The app never sends your creative work to us. We have no cloud servers hosting your data.
Permissions We Request (Google Sign-In)
Signing in to Google is optional. You only need to sign in if you want to publish a project to Google Docs™ so you can share it or edit it from another device. If you sign in, Google will ask you to approve three permissions. We request only these three.
userinfo.profile. Lets the app show your name and profile picture in the account menu so you can confirm which Google account you are signed in as. Your name and picture stay on your computer. We do not send them anywhere.drive.file. Lets the app open the specific Google Docs it creates on your behalf, or the ones you hand to the app through the Google file picker. This permission does not let the app see, list, or open any other file in your Google Drive.documents. Lets the app create the Google Doc that holds your published script, write your edits back into it when you press Push, and read the latest version when you press Pull. Even though this Google permission is listed as broad, the app only uses it on the specific docs it created for you or the ones you hand it through the picker. It never looks at anything else in your Google Docs.
What We Access
Without sign-in, the app only reads and writes files inside the project folder you choose on your computer. With sign-in, the app additionally reads and writes the Google Docs it creates for you (or the one you pick) so that Publish, Push, and Pull can round-trip your script between your computer and Google. The app never browses, searches, or lists the rest of your Google Drive or your Google Docs.
What We Store
On our servers: nothing. We have no cloud servers hosting your data.
On your computer:
- Your projects — script files, drawings, and per-project settings — inside the project folders you choose.
- Your app-wide settings — theme, view mode, language, font preferences, hardware acceleration, and window size.
- If you sign in to Google, a Google sign-in token, plus your name, email, and profile picture. These are held in your operating system's secure credential store (Windows Credential Manager or macOS Keychain).
See our Local Data Policy for the full list of items stored on your computer.
How We Protect Your Data
All calls between the app and Google use HTTPS. Your Google sign-in token is held in your operating system's secure credential store, not in a plain file on disk. The app cannot send your project's content to anyone other than Google, because there is no cloud server of ours to send it to.
What We Share With Others
Nothing. The desktop app has no third-party services, no analytics, and no telemetry.
No AI Training
Your project content and any Google Docs you publish through the app are never used to train AI or machine-learning models. Not ours, not anyone else's.
Google API Services User Data Policy — Limited Use
Mangaplay Studio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How to Remove Access
You can remove the app's access to your Google account at any time. Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, pick Mangaplay Studio, and choose Remove access. You can also uninstall the app through your operating system.
Mangaplay Studio Mobile App (Android and iOS)
The Mangaplay Studio mobile app is a native application for Android and iOS. It is built from the same code as the desktop app and asks for the same Google permissions. Your projects, drawings, and settings live on your device. The app never sends your creative work to us. We have no cloud servers hosting your data.
Permissions We Request (Google Sign-In)
Signing in to Google is optional. You only need to sign in if you want to publish a project to Google Docs™ so you can share it or edit it from another device. If you sign in, Google will ask you to approve the same three permissions as the desktop app.
userinfo.profile. Lets the app show your name and profile picture in the account menu. Stays on your device.drive.file. Lets the app open the specific Google Docs it creates on your behalf, or the ones you hand to the app through the Google file picker. Does not grant access to any other file in your Google Drive.documents. Lets the app create the Google Doc that holds your published script, write your edits back into it when you press Push, and read the latest version when you press Pull. Only used on docs the app created for you or the ones you hand it through the picker.
What We Access
On first launch, the mobile app creates a starter project in the app's own private storage area. It reads and writes files inside that area. If you sign in to Google, the app additionally reads and writes the Google Docs it creates for you (or the one you pick). The app never browses, searches, or lists the rest of your Google Drive or your Google Docs. The app does not request access to your photos, camera, contacts, or location.
What We Store
On our servers: nothing.
On your device:
- Your projects — script files, drawings, and per-project settings — inside the app's private storage area.
- Your app-wide settings — theme, view mode, language, and font preferences.
- If you sign in to Google, a Google sign-in token, plus your name, email, and profile picture. Held in your device's secure credential store (Android Keystore or iOS Keychain).
See our Local Data Policy for the full list of items stored on your device.
How We Protect Your Data
All calls between the app and Google use HTTPS. Your Google sign-in token is held in your device's secure credential store, not in a plain file. The app's storage area is sandboxed by the operating system so other apps cannot read it.
What We Share With Others
Nothing. The mobile app has no third-party services, no analytics, and no telemetry.
You can also uninstall the app from your device.
Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
